Istos Renewables offers the correction of measurements taken by Remote Sensing devices, such as Lidars & Sodars. Lidars operate by performing a conical scan. In particular for ZX300, 50 measurements are taken around the cone, on which a least squares solution is applied and a representative vertical measurement is calculated. Projecting 50 polar measurements in one vertical in complex terrain has inaccuracies, since the large terrain slopes create huge variations of the wind fields at different locations. In order to do the correction, a computational model that analyzes the wind fields around the lidar is used.
Our services offer:
- Creation of a grid of the terrain surrounding the lidar and calculation of the wind fields with the computational fluid mechanics program WindSim.
- Calculation of the correction factors per measurement height of the Lidar and for each wind sector, using an algorithm created by Istos Renewables (For relative bibliography, see References in the following DEMO_lidar_report.pdf file)
- Correction of the wind speed and direction measurements of the Lidar with the correction factors. The measurements can either be of Istos Renewables or given directly by the client.
- Writing of an automated report for the correction. Attached is the indicative report DEMO_lidar_report.pdf.
