Istos Renewables provides a new service: biodiversity monitoring and especially birdlife, which is mostly affected by the operation of wind turbines. This service is provided through the installation of special sensors and thermal cameras on the met masts installed for wind measurements.
The recorded data will be very useful to ornithologists on the basis of which the Special Ornithological Studies, which are required within the Special Protection Zones of the Natura 2000 network, can be carried out. In this way the development of wind farms is fully in line with the European Directives on the protection of biodiversity.
