Istos Renewables aims to develop through research and innovation. In addition to the use of state-of-the-art software and technologies for estimating wind and solar potential (CFD, actuator disk, Lidar, SPN1 global and diffuse irradiance), internal program codes have been developed for the analysis-validation of measurements as well as for the extraction of long-term wind data from scientific databases.
In addition, we are developing a floating station for measuring wind potential. The floating station of Istos targets to fill the gap in low cost reliable offshore wind measurements at a moderate height (up to 40m). In this way there will be a better mapping of the spatial variation of wind potential in large marine polygons and in combination with a moving floating Lidar there will be a very accurate assessment of the wind potential of a coastal or an offshore project.
